Title Pre-Supernova Evolution of Massive Stars
Abstract

Massive stars are ending their lives in spectacular explosions. While in the standard scenario, these explosions are triggered by the collapse of an iron core to a neutron star, some massive stars find different explosion channels, producing electron capture supernovae, pair instability supernovae, carbon deflagration supernovae, or gamma-ray bursts. While those are thought to be rare and insignificant in the local universe, I will show that they may dominate the picture at sub-Solar metallicity.
